Joshua Lewis graduated from LSU law in 2010. In addition to his law degree, he holds a graduate diploma in Civil Law from LSU, recognizing his study and knowledge of the structure and substance of the laws contained in the Louisiana Civil Code, based on the system of law Louisianians followed during the time of Napoleon and France’s ownership of Louisiana. However, he is also licensed to practice law in multiple common law jurisdictions, such as Mississippi, Missouri and Texas.
While living in Baton Rouge, Joshua served as an assistant District Attorney in the 23rd Judicial District, initially prosecuting misdemeanors and then all drug related felonies in Ascension parish. This valuable experience allowed him to try cases on a regular basis to a judge or jury. He also served as the general counsel for the Louisiana Regional Airport, the Ascension Parish Tourism Commission, and the St. James Parish School Board.
Joshua has recovered over a hundred million dollars for his clients, especially in the area of serious injury and wrongful death, and has a special focus on product liability claims. In a recent case, Joshua was lead counsel for the plaintiff resulting in one of the largest known settlements in Louisiana history for a single individual. He has been interviewed by numerous news outlets, including recently by CBS Morning News for his investigation into motor vehicle seatback failures which have resulted in numerous deaths and catastrophic injuries to children in the past decade.
In addition to Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas, Joshua has also been hired to represent clients in cases in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Minnesota, Kentucky and Oregon. He is licensed in all State and Federal Courts in Louisiana and in several other State and Federal Courts outside of Louisiana.
Joshua is active in community programs to help those struggling with alcohol and substance abuse. He is a proud and active member of his church, The Apostolic Church of Lafayette. He is married and has four children.
